Friend, I have a fortuitous spoiler for you: if you’re Googling any of: “am I gay?”, “am I a lesbian?”, “are you a lesbian quiz?”, you’re probably at least a little bit queer.
And that’s okay.
The shortcut to knowing if you’re gay
Gentle reader, I am 28 years old and I occasionally run an LGBT interest website. I didn’t accept I was queer until I was 22; I didn’t say it out loud until a year later surrounded by new friends in a pub and even then I referred to myself as ‘not straight’.
For a long time, I didn’t particularly want to be queer: it was a potent mix of growing up in a small Irish town where a lesbian was the worst thing you could be. I remember being 12 and my mother watching a TV show that featured two girls kissing and referring to it as disgusting.
As most baby queers do, I fell in and out of halcyon, daydream-tinged love with my friends when I was young and I told myself that this was normal – that this was what everyone feels.
And that’s okay too.
Sexuality is an evolving spectrum and you will evolve with it. You may find a label that fits you now and not in a couple of years time. Who you are now isn’t who you’ll be in 10 or 20 years time.
Take your time.
Take silly BuzzFeed quizzes that can’t actually tell you what your sexuality is.
You’ll get there and it will be okay.
There is no right or wrong way to do any of this.
In the meantime, I present: “Are you lesbian?” the quiz.
If you’re still not sure, here are a couple more quizzes to help you on your journey:
- What sexuality are you?
- Am I A Lesbian?
- Am I Lesbian, Bi, or Straight?
- If you score less than 100%, you’re you’re secretly a lesbian.
That last one is particularly hilarious, ngl.
You may not even be an actual lesbian. You may in fact be secretly a lesbian.
Which is the best kind.
